Urban fantasy with heart

What can one inept magician do to protect a supernatural community from anti-magic bigots?
Charlie Cross, recent history graduate and not-very-good-magician, isn’t sure about applying for a job at the Thirteenth Avenue Community Recreation Center. But there’s a recession on, and a girl’s gotta eat.
One ill-advised promise to a fae later, and Charlie’s in, wrangling the booking calendar around a werewolf’s 8th birthday party, taking sign-ups for a succubus’s burlesque classes, and making friends with her oracle co-worker.
It doesn’t hurt that she also gets to flirt with the sexy half-demon mechanic down the block…
But not everyone is happy about the peaceful coexistence of the magical and the mundane, and they threaten Charlie, her new friends, and Thirteenth Avenue itself.
Charlie, inexperienced and underpowered as she is, might just be the key to preventing disaster. But she definitely can’t do it alone.
Charlie Cross is having a bad week.
Her big night of celebration turns into a magical medical emergency, pixies are breaking stuff in the Thirteenth Avenue Rec Center locker rooms, and her part-incubus boyfriend Anton is afraid he might hurt her with his spicy demon powers if they move too fast.
Magical drugs and Faerie intrigue are way out of her comfort zone.
But when dangerous fae magic returns to the streets of Manhattan and Charlie’s friend and co-worker Oona gets caught in the cross-fire, Charlie will do whatever she can to put things right. Risk arrest? Sure. Talk to illegal potions dealers? She’s on it.
Work with Oona’s awful boyfriend, the Tenth Class wizard Blake? Ugh, if she has to.
Because when it comes to her friends and her community, Charlie’s discovering there’s almost no danger she won’t face. Even if–even when–the consequences could be deadly.
